These compositions are very special to me, I made them with flowers growing in former refugees camps, next to my place in the North of Paris, where hundreds of migrants were staying for months, in a camp next to the highway in terrible conditions, in winter with small tents, rats, and no access to decent water.
This composition for me represents their journey, and the exhaustion of it.
Now they have been evacuated, the camps are a bit further North of Paris, in the same bad conditions. Small flowers are growing on the ground were they lived, they hoped for a better future. What is transmitted from this to the flowers? They was more than 1500 people living there this winter,I spent New year's Eve there with volunteers from a neighbor's organization, it was a very happy moment despite the situation. As a photographer I never took any pictures of them, it felt wrong to me. Now I take pictures of what is left. Nothing, only memories.
Profit of these sales will go to an organization distributing food to refugees here in Paris.
